Frequently asked questions
A Job Safety Analysis (JSA) is a systematic process that identifies potential hazards and safety risks associated with specific construction tasks. It outlines step-by-step procedures, identifies hazards at each step and establishes control measures to mitigate risks. JSAs are critical safety documents that help protect workers and ensure OSHA compliance on construction sites.
Absolutely! Subcontractors can create, upload and submit their JSAs directly through BuildPass using their mobile devices. You can request JSAs from subs before they arrive on-site, and the system sends notifications to ensure all JSAs are reviewed and approved by your superintendent before any work begins. No more running around chasing down safety paperwork or holding up jobs!
BuildPass features an interactive JSA builder that makes creation simple. Start with one of our many industry-leading templates, then customize it for your specific work activities. The system includes a review checklist to ensure all hazards are addressed properly. Save it as a template for future use or submit it right away for review.
Once submitted, JSAs go through your established review process with built-in notifications to keep things moving. Superintendents can review, request changes or approve JSAs using the integrated checklist system. If revisions are needed, the JSA gets sent back with specific notes on required amendments. Once approved, workers can digitally sign on-site before starting work.
Yes! BuildPass serves as your digital JSA database, storing all completed JSAs by project and subcontractor. You can access historical JSAs, track which workers have signed each one and even add manual sign-ons when needed. Plus, our Library feature lets you store frequently-used JSAs for import across multiple projects, eliminating duplicate requests.
Good question! Though often used interchangeably, JSA and JHA serve distinct roles in construction safety. JSA (Job Safety Analysis) is your pre-work safety planning that spots potential dangers and sets up protective measures before tools come out. JHA (Job Hazard Analysis) examines what went wrong after incidents occur, helping you avoid repeating the same mistakes.
